The Thomasville City Board of Education approved July 13 the $4,393,315.00 energy savings performance project for school campuses with the Trane company.
The project, which will take eight to nine months to complete, is expected to be finished by summer 2022.
The Trane plan includes a complete overhaul of air conditioning and heating in all campuses, the Central Office building and auxiliary buildings. The project will also include new LED lighting for D.F. Anderson Field.
Financing for the project is being handled through the local SmartBank.
The project was discussed during a work session before the regular school board meeting. Tony King, account executive with Trane, spoke to the board.
In other action from the July 13 meeting, Avery Ford, chief school financial officer, reported that for May 2021 payroll totaled $790,332.17 and accounts payable totaled $257,115.62.
• The 2021-2022 salary schedule for school system employees was approved. The schedule includes a two percent raise passed by the Alabama Legislature.
• Annual membership for the board in the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) was approved ($3,640.97).
• Amendment No. 2 to the school system’s fiscal year 2022 budget was approved. The amendment makes minor changes to revenue and expenditures in both the General and Special Revenue Funds.
• Admission passes were approved for members of various organizations to attend athletic and other school events during the 2021-2022 school year.
• A bid from Four Seasons Produce Incorporated was approved to purchase fresh produce and precut prepackaged fresh fruit and vegetable products for the Child Nutrition Program.
• The school board approved a contract agreement with Evangelia Hartzes Grevenitis for occupational therapy services, effective Aug. 10, 2021, through May 26, 2022.
