Purpose of the Program

English Learners (EL) shall be taught to enable limited English proficient (LEP) students to become competent in the comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing of the English language. The program shall emphasize mastery of English language skills, and content area concepts and skills so students are able to participate effectively in the regular academic program.


Students arriving without social security numbers will be assigned a student number from the LEA according to the Alabama State Department of Education directive.
