A change was made to the “Personnel Leave” policy Oct. 22 by the Thomasville City Board of Education. It states that “all regular, full-time employees are eligible to take three (3) additional personal leave days for which the employee will be charged an amount equal to the daily rate of pay for a substitute teacher. The three (3) additional personal days will be voided if not used by the end of the school term.”
In other action from the school board meeting, Anjelica Gibson, Chief School Financial Officer, gave the Financial Report for August 2024. Payroll totaled $951,498.90, and accounts payable totaled $458,956.81.
• The school system is applying for the Fiscal Year 2025 grant from Alabama Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth. The school system received $600,000.00 in grant money from Ainsworth for FY 2024.
• Taylor Williams was selected as the school board delegate for the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) Delegate Assembly. Jim Davis will be the alternate.
• Jim Davis was approved as the candidate for the AASB District 1 Director. Davis abstained in the vote.
• The 2024 Five-Year Capital Plan was approved.
• After school tutoring programs for each school were approved for the 2024-2025 school year.
