The Thomasville City Board of Education approved Sept. 10 the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget. The school board meeting was held in the Thomasville High School Library.

Total revenues total $14,786,215.00, and expenditures total $15,037,217.00.

The Thomasville school system will receive $8,418,500.00 from the state “Foundation” program with a local match of $648,824.00. The foundation program funds teacher units, Instructional Support Units, Other Current Expence (OCE)-support personnel and Classroom Instructional Support (CIS) funding.

In other action from the Sept. 10 meeting, the health and science textbook committee for the 2024-25 school year was approved.

• The school system has received $1 million in state Advancement in Technology funds, said Vickie Morris, Thomasville City Superintendent. The money will go for upgrades to the THS cafeteria, improvement to phones and intercom, and security upgrades at all three campuses. The school system is also hopeful to get more grant monies by the end of September, she said.

• The Substitutes Salary Schedule for 24-25 was approved.

Matthew Henderson, teacher at THS, retirement resignation.

• There was a first reading of a policy change, which would add three additional personal leave days for school system employees.

• The next school board meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the THS Library. The public is invited.
