The following actions were addressed July 17 in the monthly meeting of the Thomasville City Board of Education in the Thomasville High School Library:

 

• The following personnel actions were approved:

• Angelica Gibson presented the Financial Report for June 2024. Accounts payable totaled $325,962.26, and payroll totaled $918,822.62.

• The school board approved the Parent/Student Handbook for the 2024-2025 school year.

• Annual membership in the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) was approved at a cost of $3,813.33.

• Salary schedules were approved for the 24-25 school year.

• Admission passes for groups and organizations for athletic and other school events were approved.

• Child Nutrition Program prices were approved for the 24-25 school year.

• Tandy Goodman, the mother of Nathan Goodman, a member of the THS soccer team, addressed the board about the lack of a soccer coach for the 2025 season. Her son also spoke at the meeting. “Thank you for your concerns,” said board president Taylor Williams. “We will continue to try to find out where we can go to continue soccer.”

• The next meeting of the Thomasville City Board of Education will be held at 5 p.m. on Aug. 27 in the THS Library. The meeting will include the first hearing for the 2025 school budget. There will also be a work session at 4 p.m.
