Thomasville City Board of Education 4-23-24

The Thomasville City Board of Education approved April 23 changes to the dress code in the 2024-2025 Parent-Student Handbook.

Under “Pants and Shorts” section, THS sports team-issued apparel “may be worn on game day for ‘in season’ sports only.

In addition, under “Vest/Sweaters/Sweatshirts,” “hoodies will be allowed. (Students will not be allowed to have hoods on inside any TCS buildings.)

Under “Jackets or Coats,” “hoodies will be allowed. (Students will not be allowed to have hoods on inside any TCS buildings.)

Revisions to School System Dress Code 4-23-24

The school board meeting was held in the Thomasville High School Library.

In other action from the April 23 meeting, Anjelica Gibson, Chief School Financial Officer, gave the Financial Report for March 2024. Payroll totaled $942,634.56, and Accounts Payable totaled $304,914.77.

• The school board went into executive session to consider a personnel matter.

• The following personnel actions were approved:

(resignations)

Nathan Ballard, teacher at Thomasville Elementary School;

Rita Kay Larrimore, Career Coach;

(employment in supplemental positions)

Brandy Nichols, TMS Cheerleader Sponsor;

(termination of employment)

Willie Milton, Child Nutrition Program Assistant at TES.

• An out-of-state field trip was approved for the THS varsity softball team April 19 and 20 (Pleasure Island Tournament) and the AHSAA Regionals May 7-9, both at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

• An out-of-state field trip was approved for fourth grade students May 15 to the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fla.

• The next meeting of the Thomasville City Board of Education will be held at 5 p.m. on May 21 in the THS Library. The public is invited.
