Health Services
The influenza virus (flu) is affecting many in our community. Flu can be spread from person to person through droplets made when people with the flu cough, sneeze or talk. It can also be spread when people touch something with the flu virus on it and then touch their mouth, eyes or nose.
Flu symptoms can present quickly and can include:
• Fever/chills
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Muscle/body aches
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• Possibly vomiting/diarrhea
What can we do to prevent the spread of the flu?
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
• Wash your hands often.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces.
• Get a flu shot.
**If your student has any of the above symptoms, they need to stay home from school. Please do not give your child medication for a fever and then send them on to school. Fever should be gone for 24 hours without the help of medication before returning to school.**
