
TCS Drama production of "Willy Wonka Jr." April 27-29 in the Thomasville Civic Center. Show times are 7 p.m. on April 27; 2 p.m. on April 28; student shows on April 29: 9 a.m. (TES and TMS) and 11 a.m. (THS). Admission is $10 for the public and $5 for students. The Civic Center Box office will be open 3:30 to 5:30 Monday through Friday and one hour before each performance on Saturday and Sunday. There will be an early release for students on Wednesday, April 10 in the Thomasville City Schools District due to the threat of severe weather: 11 a.m. at TES; 11:15 a.m. at TMS/THS.

Fourth grade teacher, Amy Carlisle, is in the running for America’s Favorite Teacher.
Once the contestants were selected for the competition, they were divided into groups, then America started voting! There are several rounds to the competition. The first round ends April 4.
Having her in the competition will shine a national spotlight on Thomasville City Schools. What an amazing opportunity!

The Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) is a statewide K-12 initiative committed to supporting the development of high-quality instruction that will prepare all students with the literacy skills needed to meet or exceed grade-level standards. The goal of the ARI is to significantly improve reading instruction and ultimately achieve 100 percent literacy among public school students.
Approximately 15 reading coaches from surrounding schools gathered March 12 for an ARI meeting in the Thomasville Elementary School Library.

Thomasville Elementary School received a $6,000 contribution March 6 from the Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) mill in Jackson, Ala.
