Washington wants to create “a positive culture and climate at TMS. It will be a family-oriented environment.”
As an educator, she loves to watch children grow. “They are my number one priority,” she said. “I want the students to be motivated and have a lifelong desire to learn as we prepare them for transition into high school.’
The recent leadership experience at TES has taught her to build positive relationships to encourage excellence by teachers and students. “I have an open door policy. Teachers know I will assist and support them.”
Washington also welcomes feedback from parents. As a parent of a student in the system, she understands their needs. “Getting parents involved in their child’s education is important,” she said. “Welcoming and building relationships with the parents, while listening to their concerns, will always be one of my goals to increase parental involvement. I hope and encourage parents to join our Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO).”
