The following items were approved March 26 by the Thomasville City Board of Education:
The board approved an updated school calendar for the 2024-2025 school year.
The first day for students is Aug. 8. The Christmas/Winter Break is Dec. 19, 2024, to Jan. 2, 2025. Spring Break is April 7-11, 2025. THS graduation is May 16. Last day for students is May 23.
• Anjelica Gibson, Chief School Financial Officer, gave the Financial Report for February 2024. Accounts payable totaled $346,035.97, and payroll totaled $959,813.66.
• The board approved a new Respiratory Virus Protocol for the school system. Thomasville City Schools will follow guidelines from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) for all respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19, flu and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus).
• The board approved amendment no. 1 to the Fiscal Year 2024 budget. The amendment makes minor changes to revenue and expenditures.
• The following personnel items were approved:

Urdris Boykin, Child Nutrition Program Assistant at Thomasville Elementary School;
(Employment Contract)
Bradford Elam, Contract Principal at Thomasville Middle School, three-year contract, effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027;
(Employment in Positions)
Mary Beth Williams, Math Coach at TES, effective for the 2024-2025 school year. Board member Taylor Williams abstained on this vote;
(Resignations)
Dana Thompson, Adjunct Instructor at TMS, resignation.
• The next meeting of the school board is at 5 p.m. on April 23 in the Thomasville High School Library.
