The following items were addressed during a brief meeting of the Thomasville City Board of Education Dec. 12 in the Thomasville High School Library:
• A meeting was held Dec. 12 between school system administrators and Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day on how best to use $600,000 in state grant funding from Alabama Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth.
Construction will begin during Christmas break on the expansion of the Special Education classroom in the back of the THS campus. Projects at Thomasville Middle School and Thomasville Elementary School will begin in January.
• Anjelica Gibson, Chief School Financial Officer, gave the financial report for November 2023. Payroll totaled $957,451.82, and accounts payable totaled $556,267.85.
• The board approved one supplemental personnel position: Ryan Anderson, Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at THS, effective 2023-2024 school year.
• The next school board meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Jan. 23 in the THS library.
